Planetarium "SKY CALENDAR," will be speaking on
What's Up for 2012. This will be held at the
Portola Community Center, 45-480 Portola Ave., Palm Desert, 92260. Doors
open at 7 pm and the talk begins at 7:30 pm.
March 30 - Dennis Mammana is author of six books on astronomy and the “Stargazer” nationally syndicated newspaper column. He has held planetarium positions at the Smithsonian Institute and San Diego’s Reuben H. Fleet Science Center. The topic of his talk is: The World at Night - The World at Night (TWAN) is an international team of the most highly acclaimed night sky photographers on the planet. Unlike astrophotographers, TWAN photographers capture the heavens with only camera and tripod, and do so in the most creative and memorable ways. In this exciting program, noted TWAN photographer Dennis Mammana will present some of his own spectacular images of the cosmos - along with those of his talented colleagues, and will offer tips on how you, too, can try your hand at TWAN style shooting. One thing is sure: you'll never see the heavens quite the same again! This will be held at the Portola Community Center, 45-480 Portola Ave., Palm Desert, 92260.
